Opposition to SRA in Worli Koliwada
Protest march till Fort today
Mumbai, April 18: A developer has acquired a four-acre plot in the Chededev temple area at Varsalen in Worli village, declared it a "Galichcha Vasti" (Slum Area) and decided to implement a Slum Rehabilitation Scheme (SRA) there. 'Worli Koliwada Owners Community Welfare Cooperative Society' has aggressively opposed it. To protest against this, a march will be organised by the residents from Chededev Temple in Worli Koliwada to Worli Fort on Tuesday (19th).
Prahlad Worlikar, the secretary of the organization, said in a press conference of the Mumbai Marathi Press Association that the declaration of this area as a slum is an insult to the Koli, Bhandari and East Indian communities, the original inhabitants of Mumbai’s seven historical islands.On Tuesday evening between 6:00pm and 7:30pm every villager and tenant will mark the Koliwada boundaries by lighting candles and arranging them in beautiful decorations. The scheme will be protested against by keeping vigil on all roads in Koliwada. Worlikar said that a protest march will be held from Chededev Temple to Worli Fort at 6:00pm.

मुंबई, ता, १८ : बरळी गावातील वारसलेन येथील'ेडेदेव मंदिर परिसरातील चार एकर भूखंड एका विकसकाने
फलिंच्छ'वस्ती' घोषित करून तिथे झोपडपट्टी पुनर्वसनयोजना (एसआरए) सबवण्याचे ठरवले आहे. त्याला विरोध'काण्यासाठी 'वरळी कोळीवाडा ओनर्स कम्युनिटी वेल्फेअरसहकारी संस्था' आक्रमक झाली आहि. याचा निषेध करण्यासाठीकोळीवाड्यातील चेडेदेंव मंदिरापासून वरळी किल्ल्यापर्यंतमंगळवारी (ता. १९) रहिवाशांचा मोर्चा काढण्यात येणार आहे.
गलिच्छ वस्ती घोषित केल्यामुळे मुंबईतील सात बेरांवरीळपूर्वाश्रमीच्या कोळी, भंडारी व इस्ट इंडियन समूहाचा अपमान १हेईछ, असे संस्थेचे सचिव प्रल्हाद वरळीकर यांनी मुंबई मराठी |पत्रकार संघात पत्रकार परिषदेत सांगितले. मंगळबारी सायंकाळी ६७त्रें ७.३० या वेळेत प्रत्येक ग्रामस्थ व भाडेकरू कोळीवाड्यातमेणबत्त्या लावूम व आरास करून सीमांकन करणार आहेत .कोळीवाड्यातील सर्व रस्त्यांवर उभे राहून या योजनेचा निषेधकेला जाईल. त्याआंधी सायंकाळी ६ वाजता चेडेदेब मंदिरापासूनवरळी किल्ल्यापर्यंत निषेध मोर्चा काढण्यात येईल, असेवरळीकर यांनी सांगितले.
