Dilemma of slum rehabilitation officials
A hearing was to be held last week by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority regarding the opposition of 450 land owners against the declaration of plots in Worli Koliwada as slums. The hearing will now be held on February 2. During this hearing also 457 land owners are going to be present and protest strongly.
Mumbai, 25th: Officials of Slum Rehabilitation Authority arrived on Thursday (25th) morning for the survey of the plot in Worli Koliwada. However, the residents protested strongly and canceled the survey. SRA officials are in a quandary as locals have disrupted the survey for the second time.
An attempt was made by the SRA to declare about 4.5 acres of land in Worli Koliwada as a slum. Locals are alleging that developers are behind it. As per the orders of the High Court, SRA officials had gone to survey the plot in Worli Koliwada a week ago. But the residents immediately opposed it. After this, the officials attempted the survey on Thursday under police protection. However, local and various party leaders did not allow the officials to conduct the survey. So the SRA officials are confused. As the officials were in a dilemma, they advised the residents to go to court.
The High Court had ruled in favor of the residents of Worli Koliwada in 1994. After that, some developers are trying to redevelop Kolivada through SRA. Mumbai Fishermen's Association, National Association of Fishermen, All-Koliwada Association etc. have come together to defeat this scheme of developers. Residents are trying to thwart the efforts of developers through these associations.

४५० जमीन मालकांचा विरोधवरळी कोळीवाड्यातील भूखंड झोपडपट्टी म्हणून घोषित करण्यांबाबतझोपडपट्टी पुनर्वसन प्राधिकरणामार्फत गेल्या आठवड्यात सुनावणीघेण्यात येणार होती. ही सुनावणी आता २ फेब्रुवारीला घेण्यात येणारआहे. या सुनावणीच्यावेळीही ४५७ जमीन मालक उपस्थित राहून तीव्रबिरोध करणार आहेत.

वरळी कोळीवाड्यातील सुमारेसाडेचार एकर भूखंड झोपडपट्टीम्हणून घोषित करण्याचा प्रयत्नत्यापूर्वी एसआरएकडून झाला.त्यामागे बिकसक असल्याचा आरोपस्थानिकांकडून केला जात आहे.उच्छ न्यायालयाच्या आदेशानुसारआठवड्यापूर्वी एसआरणएचेअधिकारी वरळी कोळोवाड्यातीलभूखंडाच्या सर्वेक्षणासाठी गेले होते.पण रहिवाशांनी त्याला तौत्र विरोधकेला. यानंतर अधिकाऱ्यांनी पोलिससंरक्षणात गुरुवारी सर्वेक्षणाचा प्रयत्नकेला. मात्र, स्थानिक आणि विविधपृक्षांच्या नेत्यांनी अधिकाऱ्यांनासर्वेक्षण करू दिले नाही. त्यामुळेएसआरए अधिकारी संभ्रमात पडलेआहित. अधिकाऱ्यांची कोंडी झाल्यानेत्यांनी रहिवाशांना न्यायालयातजाण्याचा सल्ला दिला.
उच्च न्यायालयाने १९९४ मध्येवरळी कोळीवाड्यातील रहिवाशांच्याबाजूने निर्णय दिला होता. त्यानंतरकाही विकसक कोळोीवाड्याचापुनर्विकास एसआरणमार्फतकरण्यासाठी प्रयत्नशील आहेत. हाविकसकांचा डाव हाणून पाडण्यासाठीमुंबईतील मच्छीमार संघटना, नॅशनलअसोसिएशन ऑफ फिशरमन, सर्वकोळीवाड्यांमधीळ संघटना आदीएकत्र आले आहेत. या संघटनांमार्फतविकसकांचे प्रयत्न हाणून: पाडण्याचाप्रयत्न रहिवासी करीत आहेत.
