Mumbai, 29: The High Court on Friday (29th) once again rejected the demand to suspend the ambitious Coastal Road project of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The bench directed the central government to inform about the measures to be taken for those affected. The state government and the municipal corporation had demanded that the project should not be suspended as permission has been obtained from the Coastal Regulatory Authority.

The construction of a nine-kilometer sea route from Priyadarshini Park to Worli Koliwada is threatening the marine resources and the business of the local Koli community. Therefore, the Koliwada Fishermen's Association has filed a petition in the High Court demanding that the project be suspended. CThe hearing was held before the bench of Chief Justice Naresh Patil and Justice. Nitin Jamdar. On behalf of Mani Vaya, Adv. Anil Sankreya said that the Municipal corporation would have to bear a loss of 11 crore rupees per day if the work was halted.

On behalf of the government, Advocate Milind Sathe pointed out to the court that for the Coastal Road Project, CRZ-1 highly sensitive area permission was obtained. Fishermen are prohibited from fishing due to the work. It has been alleged in the petition that netting is being prohibited in that area. The petitioners say that the existence of the Koli community is threatened due to the sea route from Marine Lines to Kandivali. The court has adjourned the hearing of the petition till April 9.

Therefore, a petition for removal of this ban was filed in the High Court by Kaj Rajamachikar, a resident of Mahim through Advocate Amit Jamsandekar. Hearing was held before the bench of Chief Justice Naresh Patil and Justice Nitin Jamdar. Due to the construction done by the municipality, there are restrictions on the children's play, citizens are not allowed to come and go; Also, obstruction has been created in the park club area. The petitioners claimed that the land concerned is reserved for a public park as per the development plan. Therefore, he demanded that construction should be prohibited in this area. The court directed to remove the related construction and mesh.
