Fishing closed till 15th April for fish breeding
Boats in Arnala on 'lockdown'

Vasai, 25: Due to natural calamities and Corona lockdown, the fishermen have had to bear financial loss of crores of rupees. However, in order to increase the amount of fish in the sea and get good income from it, the Arnala fishermen community of Virar have decided to stop fishing from March 29 to April 15 during the fish breeding season. Therefore, fishing by 475 boats will be closed here.
Vasai Pachubandar, Killbbandar, Naigaon, Arnala are used for traditional fishing. Fishermen go for deep sea fishing. But often the boats from outside states have to face damage due to encroachment and purse seine nets. Therefore, Arnala Sarvodaya Fishermen Society and Arnala Fishermen Society have taken a decision not to fish in order to increase the good breeding of fish if they do not fish during the breeding season. Around 475 boats from Arnala go for deep sea fishing. On a six-cylinder approximately over 100 people work; whereas in a three cylinder boat, the number is slightly less.
A decision was taken in the meeting to stop fishing in the Arnala sea for the next 16 days. Fishing will not be done during these days as it is the fish breeding season. We will live only if the fish live, hence this decision, said Vijay Thatu, President, Arnala Sarvodaya Fishermen Society.
Breeding period of this species...
The breeding season of pomfret, bombay duck, mandeli (anchovy/sardines), prawns/shrimp, Kota, Ghol, Surmai etc. is starting. Therefore, if such species are not caught during the breeding season, the number will increase. Therefore, fishing will be banned for 16 days; It is understood that there is also consideration to keep the entire month of April closed.
Outside boats will be controlled.
Many boats enter Arnala from Gujarat, Sindhudurg and Daman areas. They will not be allowed to fish. For this purpose, fishermen will visit the coast for 15 days. so the fish can be kept safe during the breeding season.

बसई, ता. २५ : नैसर्गिक आपत्ती,कोरोना काळातील लॉकडाऊन यामुळेमच्छीमार बांधवांना करोडो रुपयांचेआर्थिक नुकसान सोसावे लागले. मात्रतरीही मासेमारीचा अट्टहास न धरतासमुद्रातील माशांचे प्रमाण बाढावेआणि त्यातून चांगले उत्पन्न मिळावे,यासाठी मासे प्रजनन काळात २९ मार्चते १५ एप्रिल मासेमारी बंद ठेवण्याचानिर्णय विरार येथील अर्नाळा मच्छीमारबांधवांनी घेतला आहे. त्यामुळे येथे४७५ बोरटींद्वारे होणारी मासेमारी बंदअसणार आहे.
वसई पाचूबंदर, किल्छाबंदर,नायगाव, अर्नाळा या ठिकाणी मोठ्याप्रमाणात पारंपरिक मच्छीमारी होत असते.मच्छिमार खोल समुद्रात मासेमारीसाठीजात असतात. परंतु अनेकदा बाहेरीलराज्यांतून येणाऱ्या बोटींचे अतिक्रमण,पर्सिसन जाळी यामुळे नुकसानीला सामोरेजावे लागत असते. त्यामुळे प्रजननाच्याकाळात मासेमारी न केल्यास माशांचीचांगली पैदास अधिक होईल, यासाठीमासेमारी न करण्याचा निर्णय अर्नाळाफिशरमन सर्वोदय मच्छीमार सोसायटी वअर्नाळा मच्छीमार सोसायटीने बैठकीतघेतला आहे. सुमारे ४७५ बोटी याअर्नाळा येथील असून खोल समुद्रातमासेमारी करण्यासाठी जात असतात.सहा सिलिंडर बोटीत अंदाजे १०० हूनअधिक जण काम करतात; तर तीनसिलिंडर बोटीत मच्छीमारांची संख्याथोडी कमी असते.
पुढील १६ दिवस अर्नाळा समुद्रातील मासेमारी बंद ठेवण्याचा निर्णयबैठकीत घेण्यात आला आहि. माशांच्या प्रजननाचा काळ असल्यानेया दिवसांत मासेमारी केली जाणार नाही. मासे जगळे तरच आम्हीजगू. त्यासाठी हा विचार केला आहे.

या प्रजातींचा प्रजनन काळ...
पापलेट, बोंबील, मांदेळी, कोळबी,कोता, घोळ, सुरमई आदी माझांचाप्रजनन काळ सुरू होत आहे.त्यामुळे अशा प्रजाती माशाच्याप्रजननप्रसगी मासेमारी केलीनाही तर सख्या वाढेल. त्यामुळे१६ दिवसं मासेमारी बद ठेवण्यातयेणार आहे; तर पुढे एप्रिल पूर्णमहिना बंद ठेवण्यायाठीदेखीलविचार असल्याचे समजते.
बाहेरील बोटींवरठेवणार नियंत्रण...
गुजरात, सिधुदुर्ग, दमण भागातूनअनेक बोटी अर्नाळ्यात शिरकावकरत असतात. त्यांना मासेमारीकरू दिली जाणार नाही. त्यासाठीमच्छीमार बांधवाकटून १५दिवस किनाऱ्याची पाहणी केळीजाणार आहे. जेणेकरून प्रजननकाळातील माझांना सुरक्षितठेवणे डाक्य होणार आहे.
