Jellyfish are making fishing difficult: 800 fishermen in Raigad district have been grounded for a month

Jellyfish have increased in some coastal areas in the district. Therefore, the boats of fishermen from Alibaug, Navgaon, Thal, Chalmala, Varsoli, and Murud have been stranded on the coast for a month now. Raigad District Fishermen's Union President Sheshanath Koli said that the time of starvation has come for workers who depend on fishing, including fishermen. October and November is the season for fish like makhol and bagaa, but for the past several days, jellyfish are being found in some parts of the sea in the district. These jellyfish are creating obstacles for the fishermen while fishing. The body itches a great deal if skin comes into contact with the jellyfish. It has a great impact on health. Fishermen have refrained from going fishing for fear of jellyfish. Also, there is fear that sea fish will swim back into the deep sea due to the fear of jellyfish. Therefore, the boats have remained close to the coast since a month now.
"'Jellyfish' causes tremendous itching on the body. One cannot go fishing in the sea for fear of jellyfish. The government needs to look into this seriously”, said Sheshnath Koli, President, Raigad District Fishermen's Union.
There are about 800 boats along the shores of Thal, Navgaon, Varsoli, Alibaug in the taluka. As there are coastal boats it is affecting the fishing. Fisherman Datta Ghatbat said that jellyfish are coming to the shore from the deep sea, attracted by the strong LED lights.

जिल्ह्यात समुद्रकिनारी काहीभागांत जेली फिशचा वावर वाढलाआहे. त्यामुळे महिन्याभरापासूनअलिबागसह, नवगांव, थळ,चाळमळा, वरसोली, मुरूड येथीलमच्छीमारांच्या बोटी किनारी आहेत.मच्छीमारांसह -मासेमारीवर अवलंबूनअसलेल्या कामगारांवर उपासमारीचीवेळ आल्याचे रायगड जिल्हामच्छीमारे संघाचे अध्यक्ष शेषनाथंकोळी यांनी सांगितले. ऑक्टोबर व नोव्हेंबर योकालावंधीत माखोल, बगांसारख्यामासळीचा हंगाम असतो; परंतु गेल्याअनेक दिवसांपासून जिल्ह्यातील काहीसमुद्रातील भागांमध्ये जेली फिशआढळून येत आहे. या जेली फिशमुळेमासेमारी करताना मच्छीमारांनाअडथळे निर्माण होत आहेत. जेलीफिश शरीरावर चिकटल्यास अंगातूनमोठ्या प्रमाणात. खाज येते. त्याचाआरोग्यावर मोठा परिणाम होतो. जेली फिशच्या भीतीने मच्छीमारांनीमासेमारीला जाण्यास टाळले आहे.तसेच जेली फिशच्या भीतीने समुद्रातील मासळीही खोल समुद्रात पळून जाण्याची भीती व्यक्‍त करण्यात येत आहे. त्यामुळे महिऱ्याभरापासूनबोटी किनारी लागून राहिल्या आहेत.
"जेळी फिश'मुळे अंगाला खाजसुटते. जेली फिडच्या भीतीनेसमुद्रात मासेमारीसाठी जातायेत नाही. सरकारने याकडेगांभीर्याने पाहणे गरजेचे आहे."

तालुक्यातील थळ, नवगाव, वरसोळी, अलिबाग येथील किनारीसुमारे ८०० बोटी किनारी आहेत.किनारी बोटी असल्याने मासेमारीवर त्याचा परिणाम होत आहे. वाढत्या उष्णतेसह 'एलईडी'च्या तोत्र प्रकाशाला आकर्षित होत 'जेली फिश' खोल समुद्रातून किनारी येत असल्याचेमच्छीमार दता घाटबट यांनी सांगितले.
