Coastal road consultancy gets expensive

Consultant's fees touch 45 crores

Mumbai, 18th: There has been a hike in the fees of the consultant appointed for the coastal road from Worli to Nariman Point. This expenditure has now reached Rs 45 crore 95 lakh from Rs 34 crore 92 lakh.

The consultancy fee not incurred by the municipality for Coastal Road was initially fixed at Rs 34 crore 92 lakh. After that, the foundation plan of the bridge was changed. As a suggestion for that construction, the fee was increased by Rs. 5 crore and 91 lakhs. So this cost reached 40 crores 83 lakhs. The expenditure was approved by the Standing Committee in August. The municipality has appointed AECOM Asia Company as a consultant. The municipal administration has proposed an increase of Rs 5 crore 122 lakh in the consultancy fee before the Standing Committee on Monday.

Fishermen to Govt:

Mumbai: Barges, tugboats, ploughs brought for the Coastal road work are damaging the fishermen's nets. Also, due to obstruction in the way of boats, Worli Koliwada fishermen protested against Mumbai Nagar Sanstha's coastal road work. A letter has been sent again to the State Fisheries Department.

Exemption of Koliwadas from SRA schemes

Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad's suggestion

Mumbai, 18th: The plans of the politicians and developers to sell the plots there by implementing the SRA scheme to the Koliwadas in the city and suburbs have been foiled by the housing councils. Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad suggested that the SRA project should not be implemented for 42 historic Koliwadas in Mumbai. Therefore, Koliwadas will be exempted from SRA schemes.

In Mumbai, there are 42 Koliwadas in places like Sion Koliwada, Worli, Ghatkopar and in total, approximately 8 lakh voters . Houses in the original Koliwadas have an area of ​​more than 4 to 5 thousand square meters.

Koliwadas still have no protection under the law. Koliwadas should be given gaothan status first. Only then will they be truly protected by the SRA scheme, said Devendra Tandel, President, All-Maharashtra Fishermen Action Committee.

The open spaces and areas of the Koliwadas are littered with huts. Taking advantage of it, efforts were being made by the big developers to implement the SRA scheme for these Koliwadas. But members of the Koli community have rejected this plan. For this, the Koli organizations have also targeted political parties. Finally, the Housing Minister has given instructions that SRA projects should not be implemented in any historic Koliwada.
