120 knot engine boats will be excluded from diesel quota

Uran, 25th (Correspondent) The fisheries department of the state has decided to exclude boats with 120 horsepower engines from the proposed diesel quota in the state during the financial year 2022-2023. Because of this, the fishermen are going to have a problem with fishing. Fishermen's organizations have met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde demanding that the government approve the diesel quota. In the scheme implemented by the fisheries department of the state for the construction of new mechanized boats, the fisheries department had allowed the boats to use 100 to 200 horsepower engines. Therefore, at present 85 to 90 percent of boats have been fitted with 120 horsepower engines.

This boat decelerates. The Fisheries Department has taken the decision to drop the quota.

Considering the prices of diesel, millions of people who rely on boats for their livelihood will be staring at a loss of jobs and on the brink of starvation. Also since it will be difficult to repay the financial assistance given to the boats under the RSVN scheme, it has been suggested that the chief minister should pay attention to this issue.

Boats for deep sea fishing need to have engines above 200 horsepower. Due to this, the decision taken to exclude boats fitted with engines above 120 horsepower from diesel quota for the financial years 2022-2023 should be reconsidered, said fisherman leader Martand Nakhawa.
